The Womey Bridge in Benin was equipped with 34 stand-alone solar lampposts Novéa Énergies. The Womey Bridge, dubbed the Alliance Bridge between Benin and the European Union, was inaugurated on April 29, 2019. This 228-meter linear crossing infrastructure with a total width of 11 meters required 25 months of work , including 3 months of study and 22 months of physical realization of the book. The populations of Cocotomey, Womey and surroundings can thus easily reach one or the other bank of the Womey shoal. In order to use this bridge day and night, and in complete safety, the public lighting installation was necessary. Thirty-four Novéa Énergies streetlights, powered by solar energy, were chosen to offer safety and comfort to users. Thirty COMBI TOP 5 street lamps with a height of eight meters, equipped with a GRIFF XL luminaire and equipped with a solar panel of 260 Wp and a battery of 1 408 Wh, have already been installed over the entire length of the bridge. To complete this installation, four additional lampposts, with the same characteristics, will be installed soon on the edge of the bridge, on each side of the bank. The thirty-four solar street lights come on at dusk and light up in full power for the next five hours. The rest of the night until dawn, the luminaires switch to 50% dimming mode to ensure the lighting of the bridge during the hours when attendance is lower. This decrease in lighting intensity when the need is limited allows to extend the life of the components of the lamppost, such as the battery and the luminaire, which are actually less stressed. The Novbox battery is equipped with Endurance + technology, developed by Novéa Énergies in partnership with CEA, which offers the best life of the market thanks to LifePO4 Lithium cells and its unique management of energy flows. The standalone solution was the most suitable solution for lighting this infrastructure. The installation of Novéa solar streetlights is simplified compared to the installation of traditional street lamps, because no connection to the network is necessary for the operation of our lamppost, only a concrete block is sufficient. In addition, the self-powered solar lighting solution makes it possible to avoid the instabilities of the electricity grid, while benefiting from the country's exceptional solar potential. During the inauguration, a large group of students from the Ceg Cocotomey invested the bridge to get to the other side, as soon as the symbolic ribbon at the entrance to the bridge broke. The residents could not hide their enthusiasm to finally see this bridge made and open to traffic. A proof that the Womey bridge will bring a noticeable change in the daily life of the local populations and the users of this way. The satisfaction of the users was collected in this video of Benin Eden TV: Video testimonials of users of the bridge of Womey - Benin Eden TV.
