A pedestrian and cycle path lit by solar energy in Saint Herblain (44 – France)

20/05/2019

The pedestrian and cycle path to reach the residential area of La Gagnerie, Saint Herblain (44- France), is now lit by solar energy. Ten luminaires and a Novéa Énergies solar power station were installed along this driveway.

Centrale solaire MULTI 5 Gagnerie

The MULTI 5 is equipped with a 260 Wp solar photovoltaic panel integrated at the top of the four-meter mast, and a 2,458 Wh battery at the bottom of the mast to power the ten street lamps with a four meters light height, equipped with a Tekk S luminaire from the Ragni range. The color chosen for this entire installation is RAL 6005 green moss to blend in with the wooded landscape.

The ten luminaires provide markup of the path from dusk until 10:00 PM and from 6:30 AM until dawn thanks to a 10% dimming mode. A presence detection system is put in place on these same times, in order to trigger a lighting at full power when a user is detected. A break is made from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, period of the night during which this path is not borrowed.

The MULTI solar power station system proposed by Novéa Énergies is an innovative and easy to implement solution, which allows the remote generation of energy to be offset from the luminous points. The solar energy is transmitted from the power station to the luminaires using a very low voltage network (24 Volts) which simplifies the civil works compared to the traditional cabled lighting which requires a 220 V network. The operation of these solar lamp posts does not involve any electric subscription to an energy supplier, because they operate thanks to the solar energy developed by the solar power station. This energy-autonomous lighting solution reduces the environmental impact while maintaining luminous comfort and user safety.

The MULTI solution is especially popular in areas where it is difficult to install stand-alone streetlights due to the presence of trees or buildings, for example, which can interfere with solar gain. In addition, the system side is also appreciated for its aesthetic appearance, because the source of energy production is shared on a single point.
