Eschau City commits in environment protection with the solar streetlamps of Novéa Energies

This town of 500 residents wanted to light one of its bicycle paths while respecting the environment. To meet users’ needs and have a lamppost adapted to the spot’ specificities, Atout Lumière agency, which managed the project, proposed the solution MULTI of Novéa Energies, combined with presence detectors SIR of Lacroix City.

Eschau City, located at few miles south from Strasbourg, realises several projects with the will of a development both urban and sustainable. Aware of the ecological transition stakes, this municipality entered its reflection about the lighting of one of its bicycle paths into an approach which combine the adaptation to users needs, the respect of environment and the reasoned use of resources. This is why Eschau naturally asked Alsatian agency Atout lumière, expert in public lighting, for some autonomous and sustainable solutions.

The agency requested his partner Novéa Energies, manufacturer specialised in autonomous public lighting, for a study of the project and a proposition of the most adapted solution. The bicycle path goes along Ill river and leads to Liberty street. It is taken by various people, so it is essential to propose a lighting that secure the area. The other specificity of the place is the important vegetation, which must not hinder the good operating of the solar streetlamps.

To meet those two criteria, the chosen solution was MULTI. It enables to have a pole with a solar panel used as the solar power plant, which will be located at a distance from trees. It will supply its lighting as well as 3 others autonomous lampposts which will be placed near the plants with no impact on the lighting. Thus 16 streetlamps (4 batches of 4) were installed to escort people all over the path.

To secure efficiently this place for passer-by, while respecting the biodiversity (according to decree of 27/12/2018 about luminous pollution), presence detectors were added on every pole. It allows to set up a lighting at 20% of the power usually, and 100% only when cyclists and walkers are passing by. If the first pole detects a presence, it will switch on automatically its lighting, as well as the following two streetlamps, and so on and so forth as people go along, to form secure series of lights. These sets are also composed by aesthetics luminaires, located at 5m height to vanish in the environment while offering a lighting comfort on the area.

This beautiful project, combination of an environmental reflection and a solution realised by French companies, have just been installed in the city to allow a secure use of this bicycle path, particularly during winter season
