IN POLYNESIA, A HOUSING ESTATE IN THE TOWN OF FAA’A LIT BY NOVEA SOLAR LIGHTING SOLUTIONS

At the request of the Polynesian Housing Office, CEGELEC POLYNESIE called on Novéa Énergies to light a social housing estate in the town of Faa’a, in French Polynesia, in order to avoid civil engineering work.

In French Polynesia, the town of Faa’a, made up of 29,506 inhabitants, wanted to illuminate one of its housing estates, the Bonnefin. She choosed solar technology mainly because it doesn’t require civil engineering.

Indeed, an on-grid installation would have been more difficult and costly because the housing estate had little space to carry out trenching work and deviations from the water and electricity grid were present nearby. In addition, the town wanted to avoid any noise pollution in order to preserve a peaceful environment for the residents but also for the primary school located next door.

In order to respond to the needs of the municipality, Novéa Énergies accompanied the Polynesian Office for Housing in its reflection through 3 studies, to offer it the best solution for its project: 31 Combi Top 1 solutions. Solar lighting solutions offer a lighting height of 4 meters to effectively illuminate the housing estate.

This solution offers an ENDURANCE+ technology battery with a power of 436 Wh and 60 Wp solar panel. It is therefore ideal for the required use, and guarantees the same level of illumination throughout the year.

The solutions has been coloured in a RAL Gray 7035, which allows the solar lighting solutions to blend into the environment of the neighborhood. The poles have also benefited from a treatment adapted to the seaside in order to offer strong resistance to corrosion.

This housing estate is lit at maximum power for 5 hours after sunset and then passes on dimming mode at 30% the rest of the night in order to provide residents with a secure living place.

Solar lighting solutions have found their place in the town, and the inhabitants say they are very satisfied with the lighting. The Polynesian Housing Office is also delighted with the quality of the equipment, which has already successfully faced a very severe episode of wind and rain for 4 days.
